ⓘ Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust provides mental health care for people living in Birmingham and Solihull, England. It became a Foundation Trust in July 2008.

Sue Davis CBE was appointed Chairman of the trust in November 2011, following Professor Peter Marquis, who retired in September 2011.

In 2012 the trust established a subsidiary, Summerhill supplies companies, which were transferred to 52 estates and facilities staff. The intention was to achieve benefits on VAT payment, and also pay a savings account, by hiring new staff on less expensive-the NHS contracts. There are exemptions from the payment of VAT as NHS trusts can only claim VAT on a small group of goods and services that they buy. The value added tax act 1994 provides the mechanism through which NHS trusts can apply for compensation for contract services.

The trust was denied additional funding for mental health services Birmingham and Solihull clinical group commissioning in April 2019 even though the Birmingham coroner has warned, after 8 deaths of patients, the underfunding of mental health services were putting patients in danger.
